Somewhere, we have forgotten why the Second Amendment was ratified in 1791 by the United States Congress giving the people the right to possess arms. It was one of ten amendments given to us from the Bill Of Rights. The Second Amendment could be considered the cornerstone by which the people maintain their ability to enforce and protect their inalienable rights and those granted by the rest of the bill of rights.
Only 24 words…It reads as follows “A well regulated militia, being necessary for a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”
I think it’s time we ask ourselves if we still believe in the freedoms given to us by the bill of rights and what we must do to keep them. But do we realize the power “we the people” have been given because of our right to bear arms? No other people in the world has the power the American people hold in their hands. Just the number of hunters in Texas alone would be the fifth largest army in the world. Once more…there are more registered gun owners across our nation than all the armies of the world combined. Once mobilized as one brotherhood… We are the most powerful force for freedom the world has ever seen. That’s why our enemies both foreign and domestic want to see Americans disarmed. We must remember… because of our right to bear arms the People are still in charge and not the government.
